Genius Watch: Demi M. of New Albany High School

Did you know that a person with a meaningful college degree makes double, or in some instances, triple the salary that a high school graduate earns? Need help locating a scholarship? See below.

Established in 2001 at The Ohio State University, the Lawrence D. Funderburke Fisher College of Business Scholarship Fund and the Lawrence D. Funderburke Scholarship Fund provide college scholarships to underprivileged youth from the greater Columbus, Ohio, area.  Preference is given to students who have participated in the Lawrence Funderburke Youth Organization (LFYO); secondly to participants of the Boys and Girls Club of Columbus; the Salesian Boys and Girls Club of Columbus; and/or the J. Ashburn Jr. Youth Center of Columbus; thirdly to student-athletes no longer on grant-in-aid who are completing their undergraduate degrees and are in good standing; fourth to financially disadvantaged students. Scholarships awarded for preferences one or two will be renewable for 12 quarters if a 2.5 GPA is maintained. Scholarships awarded for preferences three or four, after donor consultation, will be capped at $1,500 and are not renewable.

We Are Making A Difference!
I KNOW I CAN™ is a non-profit organization that gives every qualified Columbus Public School District graduate the opportunity to go to college.

The program was founded in 1988 on the belief that every child who wishes to pursue higher education should have the opportunity to do so and should not be denied that right because of his or her economic status.

We believe that by removing the motivational, informational and financial roadblocks to success, we can help level the educational playing field for Columbus city students and graduates.
