2014 Fundraising Gala

Our fourth annual Fundraising Gala will take place at Ruth’s Chris Steak House on May 18th. We are anticipating a capacity crowd of 175 attendees. They’ll enjoy a stellar ambiance and an assortment of exquisite appetizers and desserts at one of the classiest five-star restaurants in Central Ohio. More importantly, those in attendance will learn about the impact LFYO has had on youth and families over the past year, as well as our upcoming programs for the remainder of 2014.

This year, Lawrence Funderburke will be interviewed during a one-on-one session with a sports analyst to discuss his background, LFYO, and plans for the future. This interactive format will bode well with the easygoing atmosphere surrounding the 2014 Fundraising Gala. Attendees will also be given a chance to ask Lawrence a few questions.

Last year’s keynote speaker, Clark Kellogg, discussed the importance of being difference makers and game-changers in the Central Ohio community. Clark Kellogg is perhaps the nation’s most recognizable college basketball analyst. His passion and demeanor were a slam dunk with attendees at the 2012 Fundraising Gala.

All proceeds from our annual Fundraising Gala provide ongoing support for LFYO programs here in Central Ohio. If you would like more information on our 2014 Fundraising Gala, please direct inquiries to info@LFYO.org.

Today’s young people gravitate to technology like no other generation before them. That’s why we purchased 25 iPads with Brookstone keyboards and headphones to take their learning to the next level. We create and customize innovative content to keep participants engaged and motivated to learn. For more information about our programs, click here.

New Reading Comprehension and Math Initiative

Recently, my wife and I tag-teamed on an innovative curriculum that incorporates the Race to the Top standards with our personal development, financial education, and entrepreneurship programs. These two areas, math literacy and reading comprehension, arguably give inner-city students the most trouble on state achievement tests. Why not combine these two academic areas through colorful illustrations, inviting stories, and real-world examples that keep students engaged and committed to furthering their educational progress?
